Technology
How GEO RUSH measures.
What GEO RUSH measures and why a result can be trusted. Without marketing exaggeration.
25 Hz GNSS
The device reads a GNSS receiver at 25 Hz: a new measurement every 40 ms.
Each sample includes speed, altitude, G-force, satellite count and fix quality.
- Update rate
- 25 Hz (40 ms)
- Speed source
- Satellite navigation (GNSS)
- Per sample
- time, speed, altitude, G, satellites, fix quality
Bluetooth LE
The data goes to the phone over Bluetooth Low Energy. No pairing PIN is needed.
A delayed or bunched-up Bluetooth delivery does not change a result, and lost data is detected.
- Link
- Bluetooth Low Energy
- Connection
- one phone at a time
- Platforms
- Android app; iPhone web tester planned
Signed results and anti-cheat
The device is the only trusted part of the system: it protects its results with a key stored inside it.
Every device has its own unique key, set during production. It is never sent to the app or the phone.
When you upload a run, our server verifies it and calculates all times itself. The time shown by the app is never accepted.
Honest limits: this proves the data came from a genuine device and was not edited afterwards. It cannot prove that the car was not towed or helped by a downhill road. Altitude and weather are shown on the run page for context.
- Every result is verified by the server
- Altered data is rejected
- Repeated uploads are refused
- Physical plausibility checks
- GPS quality requirements
- Stored records can be re-verified at any time
OTA firmware updates
Firmware is updated from the app over Bluetooth, no cable needed.
The update is protected, and the device verifies it before accepting. Unofficial firmware is not installed.
Accuracy
The start moment is determined precisely rather than taken from the first sample above zero.
Before a run counts, the system requires good satellite coverage and rejects data with gaps.
The result is as good as the GNSS signal: open sky matters. Weak signal gives fewer satellites and the run is not accepted.
No accuracy figure is promised here that has not been measured and published.
